Beaches in Peru

Peru in South America is known for having some very nice hot spots that are fit for tourism. There are many nice and eye-catching beach destinations on the western coastline. The coast region goes over 1400 miles on the Pacific Ocean shores. There are very nice holiday resorts for travelers along the arid coast, wildlife reserves and also some fishing towns.

Central Coast Beaches

At the center of Peru is the Lima city in the country’s coastline. There are many beaches at the large city which can be reached within an hour from the city. Very nice beaches that are perfect for surfing and also relaxing are found within one hour in the south side of Lima. There is the Pulpos, Punta Negra, Naplo and Pucusana. To the north side of Lima city is a nice and bustling Ancon beach town.

Northern Coast Beaches

There are very fine beaches in the northern coast that have big waves and a good and warm weather. When you arrive at the port of Chimbote, there is the popular Playa Tortugas beach. For a much calm place, you can head further north and find beaches like Pimental and Santa Rosa. There are also the very attractive pristine resort beaches far north of Peru.

 Southern Coast Beaches

There are very few known beaches in the southern coast. The Paracas Peninsula has a National Reserve that has very diverse marine bird species. There is the colonial beach village of Mollendo which is the most attractive beach in the southern coast of Peru.

When to Travel

From December to April, Peru experiences the summer season. That is the best time to visit the beaches which are very hot and dry at this time. From May to October is the winter season with sea mist and very cool temperatures. The northernmost beaches of Peru are often the ones that are warm and perfect for swimming throughout the year.

There are very nice hotels near these beaches that you can book and get accommodations. Plan to visit the country during summer when the whether is hot and you will have a great experience.
